Hello---confused? So am I. Hang in there--Gulf Watchers always can straighten the ship.
This was going to be VERY short; just a few entries, to get us started on relieving the stress of this past week. However, while my theme was going to be movies, etc---now with the death of Liz Taylor, I have to add a few links.
The best movie ever made IMO--is Casablanca
There is more excitement, romance, twists, humor in this movie than in any 20 others ever put together. More quotes from this movie are repeated than from virtually any movie ever made.."I'm shocked, shocked".....and this; and a dozen others.
OK---the floor is yours...........
A warning---I'm of the opinion (and who am I? The diarist, silly) that there have been very few GREAT movies made in the last 30 years.....this from someone who loves black & white film noir
BUT--first, a short remembrance of Liz.
Her big start was National Velvet
and from there she was on her way.
I'm only going to highlight 3 films of her great career;that spanned over 50 films.
First, the wild tale from the South: Maggie in Cat on a Hot TinRoof" Powerful!
Also, one of my favorites:"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
She won an Oscar for that role---and well she should have.
And, of course, "Cleopatra"
(Best part of this movie? It's where she met Richard
How could he resist? She was beautiful
So much more---you pick out some favorites---here's her filmography
And here is her obit from the NY Times -Excellent
Please only use links--No embeds of videos or photos. Thanks
