I heard a snippit of a Clark stump speech this morning on NPR and it bothered me. Not the content mind you, the content was right on, but I could have sworn that I'd heard the voice before. It nagged and nagged my until I stumbled on it. Clark sounds just like R. Lee Ermey. You know the guy who played the Drill Instructor in Full Metal Jacket, as well as having his own, hilarious show, Mail Call on the History Channel. When Clark gets 'in your face' about something he uses his 'Command Voice'. I never picked up on it before, but now that I do it makes perfect sense. When he's fired up about something Clark sounds like a DI. When he's on something when he's not so firmly planted he sounds like the CNN commentator that sounded so intelligent to me.
Now, flame away if you want to, but it's going to be REALLY hard for me to take Clark seriously anymore when I hear him. I love R. Lee to death, but he just cracks me up when he drops into DI speak. I'm not saying Clark's message should be ridiculed, but for me personally I don't think I could deal with someone who sounds like R. Lee as president.
